Malia Bruker is a filmmaker, media artist, and Associate Professor of Digital Media Production at Florida State University. Working primarily in the realm of documentary, Bruker’s films skirt the boundaries of non-fiction, drawing from artists’ moving image, dance film, and other experimental genres.  Her films have screened at International Film Festival Rotterdam, Athens International Film and Video Festival, Sarasota Film Festival, Philadelphia Film Festival, Antimatter Video Art, and Chicago Underground Film Festival. Her current film, Threshold, is a 360-degree dance film that opens a portal into the transformational journey of four women—from isolated individuals grappling with the effects of trauma to a community in solidarity. She also is a co-founding member of the Tallahassee Bail Fund and serves as Executive Vice President of University Film & Video Association.
